Knicks legend and Basketball Hall of Famer Walt “Clyde” Frazier will make a guest appearance at the Town of Brookhaven’s annual youth 3-on-3 basketball tournament at the Mastic Aquatic Center on Sept. 18.
Frazier, the longtime Knicks TV broadcaster for MSG Network, will be on hand as a special guest announcer for the tournament. He also will interact with the participants and entertain spectators throughout the tournament, which runs from 5 to 8 p.m.
There is no preregistration for the tournament, which is open to players ages 13 to 18. Players will be randomly selected for teams on the night of the event.
The winning team will be awarded prizes and all players will be entered in a raffle for a chance to win a free bicycle. Drinks and snacks will be provided. The annual tournament is part of the Town of Brookhaven Youth Bureau’s Safe Summer Program.
Frazier, whose jersey No. 10 is retired by the Knicks, helped the Knicks win NBA titles in 1970 and 1973. He had one of the greatest Game 7 performances in NBA Finals history with 36 points, 19 assists, seven rebounds and five steals against the Lakers in 1970. He played 10 seasons with the Knicks, was a seven-time All-Star and was voted to the NBA’s all-defensive team seven times.
