Larry Sanders repaid the Bucks for making him the face of the franchise and cornerstone of their rebuild by tearing a ligament in his right thumb during an altercation at a nightclub, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported. Sanders had surgery and will miss six weeks.
The Bucks signed Sanders to a four-year, $44 million extension over the summer, after letting Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings go. A strong defender, Sanders finished third in the Most Improved Player voting last year, but was off to a bad start: averaging 2.7 points and 3.7 rebounds before the incident.
