SYRACUSE -- It sounds as if Rasheed Wallace has a better chance of playing in the regular-season opener than Marcus Camby does.

Woodson said Wallace "could" scrimmage Tuesday, although it doesn't sound likely. But he made it seem as if Wallace, who has been working on conditioning after taking off the past two seasons, is getting closer.

Woodson said he will get updates on Wallace and other injured players Tuesday. "If the doctors give me some positive feedback," he said, "then we'll react off of that."

"It could be that way all year, depending on personnel and how we're playing," Woodson said. "I don't want to see Melo have to guard big, big . He can. But it takes a lot out of him, too."
