CHICAGO - Nate Robinson did not join the Knicks here for last night's game because of flu symptoms. The three-time Slam Dunk champion, who defended his crown Saturday night in Dallas, started feeling ill Sunday night after his flight landed in New York.
He remains questionable for tonight's game at the Garden in the second of the home-and-home with the Bulls.
Could it be his last game as a Knick? Though the Knicks, who are owned by Cablevision, which also owns Newsday, are believed to be willing to trade Robinson before tomorrow's trade deadline, his name hasn't shown up in a great deal of trade rumors. One reason is that he has veto power because he signed a one-year contract; it is something he exercised in December when he declined a trade to the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Boston Celtics, however, remain interested in making a deal for Robinson to add much-needed perimeter scoring off the bench. A person with knowledge of the situation has said Robinson, who has a $1-million kicker in his contract if his team makes the playoffs, would accept a trade to the Celtics.
Boston, which is also believed to be considering other trade scenarios before the deadline, is shopping the expiring contracts of Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine.
