NBA free-agent forecast: Where will LeBron, Carmelo, Wade, Bosh, others sign?

LeBron James, Heat

The summer of LeBron is here again, but there won't be another ill-conceived "Decision." Teams such as the Rockets, Cavaliers and Lakers will line up for James, but it's still hard to foresee him leaving Miami.

Prediction: Re-signs with Heat

Carmelo Anthony, Knicks

The Knicks can pay him the most, he wouldn't have to uproot his family and he has a chance to learn under Zen Master Phil Jackson. But Anthony has a better chance to win if he goes to Chicago, Houston or Miami.

Chris Bosh, Heat

The Mavericks will pursue him, and perhaps the Rockets and Lakers will, too, but the Heat's Big Three have another plan: to take less money and recruit more players in an attempt to win more championships.

Kyle Lowry, Raptors

The Raptors can give him the most money and want him back. It will be the biggest contract he ever signs, but Lowry has to weigh winning over salary. The Heat needs a point guard and has targeted Lowry, and Pat Riley can be extremely persuasive.

Dwyane Wade, Heat

He opted out of the two years and $41 million left on his contract after a down season and rough Finals. He has to know the Heat will take care of him and make up that money and more in a longer deal.

Paul Pierce, Nets

He might want to keep playing with Kevin Garnett, but with the Jason Kidd news, Pierce could reunite with Doc Rivers and return home to Los Angeles, where he'll have a better chance to win.

Prediction: Signs with Clippers

Pau Gasol, Lakers

Among the teams calling him will be the Knicks, and they might have ins with Jackson in charge and fellow Spaniard Jose Calderon running the point, but they likely would need a sign-and-trade. Gasol and Kobe could try for a last run together.

Dirk Nowitzki, Mavericks

He isn't the same player as when he was the 2011 NBA Finals MVP, but he remains effective and the face of the Mavericks. He isn't going anywhere.

Marcin Gortat, Wizards

Had a strong season and helped the Wizards to the Eastern Conference semifinals, where they put a scare into top-seeded Indiana. He will be sought-after, but the Wizards know they have to meet his demands.

Luol Deng, Cavaliers

They drafted Andrew Wiggins No. 1 overall and will pursue James, so Deng appears out in Cleveland. Teams that strike out on James and/or Anthony could pursue Deng. The Mavericks and Lakers seem to have heavy interest.

Lance Stephenson, Pacers

After a great start to last season, he tailed off and cost himself millions and probably some calls from teams with his playoff antics, but Pacers president Larry Bird likes him. That's all that matters.

Chandler Parsons, Rockets

One of the more underrated and underpaid players in the NBA, he will get paid this summer as a restricted free agent. The Rockets plan to match any offers, but it also could depend on whether they pick up some small forwards in free agency.
