Starks drops 31 on Pacers

In a battle of Eastern Conference rivals, John Starks went 10-for-16 from the field, including 8-for-11 from three-point range, and scored 31 points to lead the Knicks to a 117-105 win over the Indiana Pacers in front of a sellout crowd of 19,763 at Madison Square Garden. The deluge of threes would be nothing unusual for Starks during the 1994-95 season; he became the first player in NBA history to attempt more than 600 three-pointers (611) and make more than 200 (217) in a single season. Starks did not win the game by himself, however. Veteran point guard Derek Harper had 16 points and 13 assists, and Patrick Ewing had 19 points and nine rebounds. Knicks nemesis Reggie Miller scored 28 points and shot 10-for-16. The Pacers would have the last laugh; they went on to defeat the Knicks in seven games in the 1995 Eastern Conference semifinals.
