Knicks trade for King and Orr
The Knicks acquired forward Bernard King in a trade with Golden State for guard Micheal Ray Richardson and a 1984 fifth-round draft pick. Incidentally, the Knicks also acquired forward Louis Orr from Indiana on the same day. King, a Brooklyn native and former Fort Hamilton High standout, averaged 26.5 points in four seasons with the Knicks. He missed the entire 1985-86 season, and all but the final six games of the 1986-87 season after he tore the ACL in his right knee. The four-time All-Star played five more seasons with Washington and New Jersey, and ended his career with 19,655 points.
