Diana Taurasi will be in position to break the WNBA scoring record Sunday when the Phoenix Mercury play at Los Angeles. Taurasi is 14 shy of passing the 7,488 points set by Tina Thompson from 1997-2013. The Mercury star scored 15 points Friday night in an 86-78 victory over the Chicago Sky.
The 5-11 former UConn star has been with the Mercury since 2004, when the team made her the No. 1 overall draft pick.
