Briann January scored 20 points and Natasha Howard added 12 to help the Indiana Fever beat the Liberty 70-66 on Saturday night.
The back-and-forth battle had 14 ties and 12 lead changes before Indiana took a 68-66 lead on two free throws by Karima Christmas with 28 seconds left. Cappie Pondexter missed a jumper with 8 seconds left before the Liberty fouled Marissa Coleman. She hit both free throws to seal the win for Indiana (3-3).
Tina Charles scored 22 points to lead the Liberty (2-4).
Delisha Milton-Jones had given the Liberty a 66-64 lead with 2:54 left, but that was their last points of the game. They missed their last four shots after that basket.
Indiana was still missing Tamika Catchings, who has been sidelined with a back injury this season.
