Liberty acquires Braxton from Phoenix
The Liberty acquired All-Star forward/center Kara Braxton from the Phoenix Mercury in exchange for forward Sidney Spencer, coach and general manager John Whisenant announced Thursday night.
Braxton was chosen seventh overall in the 2005 WNBA draft by the Detroit Shock.
Spencer was selected 25th overall in the 2007 WNBA draft by the Los Angeles Sparks shortly after her University of Tennessee team won the 2007 NCAA women's basketball championship. The Liberty acquired her rights via a trade with Los Angeles in exchange for the Liberty's 2010 first- round draft pick on May 5, 2009. Spencer is averaging 2.5 points and 0.8 rebounds per game.
