Liberty point guard Brittany Boyd will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing successful surgery to repair a torn left Achilles’ tendon on Monday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan, the team announced on Wednesday.

The Liberty said Boyd is expected to make a full recovery in 9-12 months. Boyd suffered the injury in last Thursday’s loss to the Lynx at Madison Square Garden.

Without Boyd, Sugar Rodgers and Epiphanny Prince got most of the minutes in the backcourt Tuesday night for the Liberty in a 69-67 win over the Mercury in Phoenix. Prince played 34 minutes and scored a game-high 24 points. Rodgers played 33 minutes and had eight points and four assists.

Boyd started the first two games of the season and averaged 13 points. Boyd was in her third season with the Liberty and appeared ready for a breakout season. She averaged 6.6 points per game in her rookie season and 6.5 points last season. Boyd played in 66 games with the Liberty over her first two seasons, making 13 starts.

The Liberty (2-1) play in Seattle on Friday night against the Storm.
