Nets point guard Deron Williams wants to prove he still can play at an elite level and return to his old form.

He's off to a good start, and the NBA recognized Williams' recent play on Monday, naming him the Eastern Conference player of the week. It's the first time he has earned the honor since 2010, when he played for the Jazz under Jerry Sloan. It is the fourth time he has received the honor over his career.

In guiding the Nets to a 3-1 record during their homestand, Williams averaged 20.8 points, 7.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 37.3 minutes. Joe Johnson had been the most recent Net to win the award, doing so in March.
