More ankle injections, PRP treatment for Deron Williams

Looks like the Nets won't have Deron Williams available for at least a few days.

The team on Tuesday announced that Williams received cortisone injections and had platelet-rich plasma treatment on both of his troublesome ankles, ruling him out for Wednesday's game against the Warriors. Williams, who was diagnosed with a sprained left ankle following Monday's MRI, is in a walking boot and is expected to be re-evaluated at the end of the week.

Williams also had the same procedure done last season just before the All-Star break following an injury-ravaged start to the Nets' inaugural season in Brooklyn. It helped immensely, as Williams averaged 22.9 points and eight assists, shooting 48 percent -- including 42 percent from three-point range -- in the 28 games after the break.

Williams missed about a week's worth of action after PRP treatment last year, though since it came around the All-Star break, the Nets only had one game in between the time he had the procedure done Feb. 11 and the game in which he returned against the Bucks Feb. 19, scoring 19 points and distributing nine assists in his first game back.

"Like, I could not walk,' Williams said March 16 in describing what he was dealing with pain wise prior to the procedure. "I could not get up my stairs without it not killing me. It would take me 10 minutes to get up my stairs sometimes, especially in the morning. I feel totally different right now. I feel like I have just a whole new energy.''

Wednesday's game against Golden State will mark the 13th time Williams has sat out this season due to injury. The Nets also have date with the Heat Friday and take on the Atlantic Division-leading Raptors on Saturday before heading off to London Sunday night for next Thursday's game with the Hawks at O2 Arena.
