Vince Carter might be playing at Nets for last time

Vince Carter still hasn’t announced whether this — his 21st NBA season — will be the final one of his career, but Wednesday’s game could have been the Atlanta forward’s last time playing at Barclays Center.
Carter, who made three of his eight All-Star appearances with the New Jersey Nets from 2004-09, posted three of the top seven single-season scoring averages in franchise history in his four-plus seasons with the team.
“Ooh, just a great player,” Nets coach Kenny Atkinson said before Wednesday’s game against Carter and the Hawks. “I think for a lot of people it’s been his athleticism, but as a coach I’ve really appreciated what a smart player he was, how his shot kept improving. But again, a really smart player, a really high basketball IQ. Obviously you don’t last this long in the league without that. His longevity is legendary to me. As a former Net, too, I’ve watched a lot of his games. I’m a big fan.”
The 41-year-old Carter ranks 22nd in NBA history in points – with 25,138 entering Wednesday’s game — but he’s averaging 7.3 over 37 appearances (17.4 minutes per game) for Atlanta this season.
“We’ll see what happens at the end of the year, but I feel good,” Carter said earlier this week. “I’ll weigh my options [about retirement] when it’s done. I’d like to come back and play . . . I’m still toying with that, when that time is going to come. Believe me, it’ll be crystal clear when it’s time.”
Harris, Carroll get OK to play
Joe Harris (ankle), the NBA’s No. 2 ranked player in three-point shooting percentage (48.2), and DeMarre Carroll (knee) were available after the two veterans had missed Monday’s loss to Boston. “It’s good to get whole again. Those guys are important players for us. Good to have them back,” Atkinson said.
