Before the season, I thought Nationals outfielder Roger Bernadina would make a good sleeper in deeper leagues. For some reason, it didn't appear the Nationals were enamored with him. They sent him down to Triple-A to begin the season,

Then they finally recalled him, but didn't let him play every day. Rumors were circulating the team was interested in acquiring a centerfielder. Bernadina got more playing time when Rick Ankiel went on the disabled list and then started losing some time when Ankiel returned. Ankiel went on the DL again and Bernadina has heated up. In the month of June he is 20-for-60 (.333) with nine runs, three home runs, seven RBIs, three stolen bases, and a .918 OPS.

For the season, he is batting .281 with 18 runs, four home runs, 14 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases. He does strikeout  a lot, so the average may not continue to rise. He also hits a lot of grounders, which is bad for his power, but good since he has speed.

Bernadina is available in a lot of leagues and should be considered if you need some outfield depth.
