If you don't watch the games and just read box scores, you can be misled. That's what I am here for. Clinton Portis owners were probably feeling good after he scored two TDs last week and had a juicy matchup against the Rams in Week 3. Portis didn't look good against the Texans last week. The TD runs were both on 1-yard runs set up by pass plays. Portis doesn't have any burst and doesn't run behind a great offensive line.

Durability is also a concern considering all the touches he has piled up over the years. Even in a great matchup against the Rams, Portis couldn't take advantage. He had 44 yards on seven carries and one catch for 14 yards and had one carry y in the second half. Portis did have a sore forearm and wrist, but he was relegated to third-down duties.

After Keiland Williams was named the backup following the release of Larry Johnson, Ryan Torain was activated from the practice squad Friday and he had seven carries for 46 yards. Williams had no carries and two catches for 14 yards.

Torain hasn't appeared in a game since 2008 and he played under coach Mike Shanahan in Denver. He gained 36 yards on his first carry. Torain becomes a pickup in most leagues as he could be more involved in the offense.
