Hofstra's Olivia Galati named first-team All-American

The accolades for Hofstra's Olivia Galati have begun to pepper the softball world and beyond.
The junior pitcher, who helped lead the Pride to the program's first NCAA Super Regional, was named a first-team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Galati is Hofstra's first first-team All-American and fifth overall selection in program history.
The West Babylon native garnered national attention as she won a school-record, 34 games, including 32 straight.
Galati (34-7) is currently second in the NCAA with a 0.95 earned run average and is one of only three pitchers to have a sub-1.00 ERA.
She leads the nation with 17 shutouts and is fourth in strikeouts (378).
The 2012 CAA pitcher of the year, Galati holds the Hofstra record for career strikeouts with 1,018.
Hofstra finished the season 42-15 and fell to No. 19 South Florida, 2-1, in a best-of-three Super Regional last week.
An accomplished hitter, the St. John the Baptist graduate was second on the Pride with a .345 batting average with four home runs and 37 RBIs.
