Hofstra's Sam Llinares gets second 50-point season in a row

Sam Llinares had a goal and two assists, becoming the first Hofstra men's lacrosse player to record consecutive 50-point seasons in more than a decade, but the Pride fell to No. 10 Cornell, 14-5, at Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca.
It was Hofstra's third straight loss.
Mike Malave and Zachary Franco each had a goal and an assist for Hofstra (4-8).
Dan Lintner had five goals and John Edmonds added two goals and three assists for Cornell (9-3), which outshot Hofstra 42-16.
Llinares, a Hauppauge High School graduate, scored just 3:43 into the game for his 28th goal and 50th point of the season.
He had 53 points as a sophomore last season.
The last player to have back-to-back 50-point seasons for the Pride was Tom Kessler in 2000 and 2001, according to Hofstra.
Freshman goalie Jack Concannon of St. Anthony's made eight saves in his collegiate debut.
