Gabriel Duran tossed a no-hitter with two walks and 10 strikeouts to lead Dowling over Mercy, 2-0, in the first game of an ECC baseball doubleheader Saturday. Eddie Squeri hit an RBI triple in the top of the first to drive in Sean Craig. Dan Pembroke then delivered a single to score Squeri.

Mercy beat Dowling, 5-2, in Game 2. Vinny Tesoriero was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Mercy (6-12, 3-5). Frank Intagliata was 3-for-4 with an RBI and three stolen bases for Dowling (12-12, 7-7).

Hofstra 9, Northeastern 6: Matt Pro- kopowicz (3-for-6, four runs) hit a two-out, three-run homer in the top of the 12th for Hofstra's (8-13, 2-0, CAA) final margin. Ethan Paquette's RBI-single in the top of the 11th helped Hofstra take a 6-5 lead, but Northeastern (6-10, 0-4) tied it in the bottom of the frame.

Briarcliffe splits:Joe Solomeno singled to drive in Sam Braverman from second with one out in the eighth to lead Briarcliffe, 4-3, over SUNY-New Paltz in Game 1. Kurt Stettner picked up his third win in relief with two scoreless innings. Braverman's three-run homer in the first gave Briarcliffe (11-6) a 3-0 lead in Game 2, but it was unable to hold on in a 7-5 loss.

Suffolk CC-Brentwood, Suffolk CC-Selden split.Anthony Orsano hit a two-run home run with two outs in the top of seventh to erase a 2-1 deficit as Brentwood (15-4, 7-2) won, 4-3, in Game 2 of a Region XV doubleheader. Selden took Game 1, 11-3.

SOFTBALL

Hofstra 2, George Mason 0:Sara Michalowski broke a scoreless tie with a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth and freshman Olivia Galati threw a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts for her third straight shutout as Hofstra completed a three-game sweep over George Mason in CAA action. Hofstra is 21-6, 6-0.

Suffolk CC-Selden sweeps.Britany Sherwood scattered seven hits, struck out five and walked three as Selden (14-1, 6-0 Region XV) topped Queensborough, 11-5, in Game 2 to sweep a doubleheader. Cherie Wangenstein added three RBIs. Jade Geddrie (6-0) struck out 10 in a three-hitter as Suffolk topped Queensborough, 5-1, in Game 1. Geddrie gave up a run in the third, which stopped her 30-inning scoreless streak. Kim Konklewski went 3-for-4 with a two-out triple in the third, which gave Suffolk a 2-1 lead.

Adelphi splits.Ashley Vinci hit a three-run homer in an eight-run third to lead Adelphi (11-12, 3-4 Northeast-10) in Game 2 of a doubleheader over Southern Connecticut, 14-6. Leighann Bell pitched 22/3 innings and struck out three for the win. Vinci had three hits and five RBIs for the game. Katie Brophy went 2-for-4 for Adelphi, which dropped Game 1, 12-6.

Both St. Joseph's split.Gina Moscatelli tossed a four-hitter with no earned runs as St. Joseph's (Long Island) (10-7) took Game 2 of a doubleheader, 7-2, over St. Joseph's (Brooklyn). Moscatelli had a triple and three RBIs in the game and Jennine Rasmussen went 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Brooklyn (8-6) won Game 1, 9-0, behind Alyson Chiaramonte, who struck out eight and allowed four hits.
