In one of the last maneuvers under the current collective-bargaining agreement, the Giants have placed tenders on several of their most prized restricted free agents-to-be, even though many of them likely will wind up being unrestricted free agents under a new agreement.

According to various sources and reports, the Giants put second-round tenders on Ahmad Bradshaw, Kevin Boss, Dave Tollefson, Barry Cofield and Kevin Boothe. If a player is signed by another team, the Giants could match the offer or would get a second-round pick. They also put tenders on Steve Smith and Mathias Kiwanuka, most likely original pick tenders. Smith was a second-round pick, Kiwanuka a first.

"In the end, it probably will mean nothing,'' an agent for a tendered player said.
