Ahmad Bradshaw was not practicing running today thanks to a sore ankle. But he was practicing his handwork and keeping the ball secure on the sideline.

While watching today’s workout, Bradshaw kept the ball “high and tight” as prescribed by Tom Coughlin. At one point Coughlin even came over to him and tried to knock it out.

“He was testing me,” Bradshaw said with a laugh.

While Coughlin had forced former Giants running back Tiki Barber to spend an entire offseason with the ball tucked securely against his chest, Bradshaw said the time he spent with the pigskin was his own idea.

“I punish myself when I fumble,” he said. “I just do it on my own. I punish myself. It’s something I always do.”

Bradshaw said he’s been carrying the ball like that around his house, around the building, and at practice.

“I just have to buy into the high and tight,” he said. “It wasn’t high and tight when I had the fumble the other night. It’s something I have to work on. I usually have it that way, I just got lackadaisical.”
