Brandon Jacobs goes long, takes "star"-ing role
Brandon Jacobs had scored four touchdowns in the last three games, but all of those were shorties. Little dives in which he bulls his way into the end zone. Last night, the big guy got to do what he loves more than crushing people. He got to flash his wheels.
Jacobs scored on a 30-yard run in the third quarter, a touchdown that seemed to be the death-blow to the Cowboys, making the score 38-20.
“It’s nice to get a longer one,” Jacobs said. “It’s nice to get out and run a little bit and get in the end zone. I wasn’t going to let anyone stop me.”
Jacobs also scored last year on a 74-yard play against the Cowboys (although that one technically was a reception and run, not a rush, because it came on a screen pass).
Jacobs then broke out his World Wide touchdown dance. He made certain he was doing it on the starred helmet that was painted in the corner of the end zone. He thought about going to the big star.
“The one in the middle was too far away,” Jacobs said. “I was already tired.”
