Brandon Jacobs rips Jets 'circus,' says they're doing things 'the wrong way'

Thought Jets-Giants week was too quiet? Figured something was missing? Someone, perhaps? Well, here he is.

Brandon Jacobs may be playing on the West Coast now, but he has inserted himself into the middle of the Battle for New York Bragging Rights taking place on Saturday night. In an interview with Clark Judge of CBSSports, Jacobs weighed in on several topics … but none of them tipped the scales the way his thoughts on the Jets did.

“It's a circus, man,” Jacobs said of the Jets. “But every year it's like that. Obviously the Jets have some great players. Bart Scott, [Darrelle] Revis, [Antonio] Cromartie. They have a good defense, no question about it. But all this stuff surrounding [Tim] Tebow and [Mark] Sanchez ... I truly think it's going to be Sanchez. He's going to be the guy. He's got to be the guy. He's the natural quarterback out of the two. That's just my opinion. I shouldn't be speaking of their team, but I'm just so tired of reading and hearing of everything over there ... and it's mid-August. It's like: Are you kidding me? Camp's not even over."

Jacobs famously got into Rex Ryan’s face after the teams battled in December. Then, when he was released from the Giants, he made it clear that he would welcome joining the Jets. In the interview with CBSSports he even notes that he and Ryan are “sort of alike.”

But he does say that he feels bad for the Jets players who get caught up in the expectations that Ryan and the fans and the media put on the team.

“People make their expectations, and that's what people do with the Jets because of what's going on,” Jacobs said. “People make expectations about them, and when it comes down not to be that way, coach Ryan has some bull [about what happened]. Then they're looking down at everybody. But it's the media and everybody else making these expectations for this football team. When it doesn't happen you're beating the coach up and beating the players up, but they're a team that's working hard just like everyone else in this league."

Jacobs made it clear, though, that his heart remains blue.

“They were in the AFC Championship Game twice in a row, but the year after that the Giants win the Super Bowl,” Jacobs said. “That discredits everything as far as the Battle of the City. They can't ever one-up the Giants -- not in my eyesight; not in anyone else's eyesight. They can never do that. They keep trying, but they're doing it the wrong way. Like I said, the Jets have a great football team. They're talented, no question about that, and Shonn [Greene] is a great running back who runs hard. They've got a good team, man, but sometimes ... I just don't know what the problem is. That's why things go the way it does for them."
