John Harbaugh has completed his Giants offensive staff by hiring Brian Callahan as quarterbacks coach/pass game coordinator, a league source confirmed Wednesday to Newsday.
Callahan was the Titans’ head coach the last two seasons, with a 4-19 record before he was fired last October. Prior to that, he was the Bengals’ offensive coordinator from 2019-23, which included two AFC Championship appearances with quarterback Joe Burrow and a Super Bowl appearance in 2022.
Callahan was also previously quarterbacks coach with the Lions (2016-17) and Raiders (2018). With the Lions, Callahan worked with Matthew Stafford, and in 2017, Stafford was third in the NFL in passing yards (4,446) and fourth in touchdown passes (29).
Last season in Tennessee, Callahan worked with quarterback Cam Ward, the No. 1 pick in the draft. Now he’ll work with the second quarterback taken last year in Jaxson Dart.
Dart has two former head coaches assisting in his development for his second season. Former Bears coach Matt Nagy will be the Giants offensive coordinator after spending the last three seasons with Kansas City in the same capacity.
