One of the stories I wrote for today's paper was about Bruce Johnson. He was an undrafted free agent who made the team last summer and wound up being a solid contributor throughout most of the year. He was certainly more productive early in the season, but then again who wasn't? He also had a nagging wrist injury that prevented him from pressing on receivers. He had surgery to correct it this offseason and now he's back.

He's also one of the more, um, feisty players in training camp. A little extra shoulder bump here, and little extra shove there. Nothing dirty, really, just annoying I'm sure if you are the other player. I asked him about it.

"I've got to let them know," he said. "Being a little guy, they try to give you a little extra, so you've got to let them know that it's not a little fight. It isn't dirty, you've just got to let them know that I'm not going to let you push me around just because I'm a little smaller than you."

He's always been one of the smaller guys on his teams, so he said he's always had to give that extra effort.

"It's nothing new for me," he said. "And it gets me fired up as well."

Here's the link to the Bruce Johnson story (with an unfortunate headline that referenced "Undersized Johnson") and the others that ran in the paper, some of which appeared on the blog already so excuse the repetition:

And of course if you are looking for an update from last night's practice, including quotes from Kenny Phillips on his big play going across the field, you can read this blog post.

That's all for this morning. One practice today at 2:30. We'll have the players any minute now so I'll be back before then with some updates.
