Chris Canty, Justin Tuck say Giants working together again
Something was different about the Giants' defense in their 31-18 win over Carolina today compared to the sad-sack unit that collapsed at the end of last season. What was it, inquiring minds wanted to know?
Defensive tackle Chris Canty said it was a sense of unity that was missing by the end of their 8-8 season a year ago. "The defensive front just wants to do whatever it takes to win," Canty said. "We're all very talented, but last year was an example of talent alone not getting it done. We just wanted to come out and do whatever we were asked to do to get a win."
Defensive end Justin Tuck added, "The defense played together. Last year, we kind of got frustrated and had individuals trying to be Superman. Today, I told them, 'Let's stay together. If 11 guys do their job, they stand no chance.' That's basically what it was."
