Chris Snee on surgery, Jacobs and ... shopping

Forget Tebowmania. It’s time for some InsanitSnee!
Yes, I caught up with Chris Snee at an event to open the NFL pop-up store on 41st and Sixth in Manhattan today. The store will be there for the month of April (it officially opens to the public on Monday) and will close after the draft at the end of the month. Chris and his wife Kate were on hand to browse and do some shopping. A few nuggets from both of them:
Snee had surgery on his right elbow last Tuesday. “Throughout the year I battled through some things that I didn’t make public, so I wanted to get it cleaned out,” he said. While he joked that in an ideal world he’d be back at the end of training camp, he said he’ll be ready to go sometime in May for OTAs and minicamps.
As for who will be playing next to him, Snee said he doesn’t know who the Giants believe will replace Kareem McKenzie. “That’ll be different,” he said of having a new wingman. David Diehl would seem to be the obvious candidate. “That’s the logical choice but I don’t know what’s gong on in that room,” Snee said. “I would think that would be the plan. They may have spoken to David, I don’t know, but I’m sure when we get on the field in May it’ll be set by then. I don’t know if they’ll draft a guy early or what.”
Snee said that the team will get their Super Bowl rings at a ceremony at Tiffany’s on May 16, although he has yet to see any pictures or images of the jewelry (and no, they were not on sale at the NFL Shop!). No date has yet been set for the White House visit.
Snee said it will be difficult for the Giants to replace the fire that Brandon Jacobs brought for seven years. Jacobs signed with the 49ers yesterday. “Brandon’s presence in the locker room and on the field, you could see just how much he loves football. One of the toughest guys I’ve ever played with and he loves the game. To lose that energy and that physical presence that he had will be something we have to overcome. And I’m sure he’ll be excited when we go out there to face him.”
