Coe, Tryon return to Giants

The Giants gave themselves some protection in the contract of Terrell Thomas just in case he isn’t able to play to the level he was at prior to his torn ACL. They also signed a few players to provide physical insurance.
Michael Coe and Justin Tryon, two veteran cornerbacks who finished the season in injured reserve for the Giants in 2011, were re-signed today at the start of free agency. Both were due to become free agents but didn’t get very far before agreeing to come back.
This will be Coe’s third year with the Giants. He played in 10 games last season before injuring his shoulder on Nov. 20 against the Eagles and landing on IR.
Tryon was brought in to the Giants on Oct. 4 last year after they were losing cornerbacks at an alarming rate and he was released by the Colts. He made a key tackle of Reggie Bush on a punt return on Oct. 30 – doing so with an already fractured wrist which he mangled even further and required surgery to fix – and was promptly put on injured reserve with full honors from Tom Coughlin.

The Giants also signed a pair of players who were out of football in 2011: Offensive tackle Joel Reinders and tight end Larry Donnell. Reinders played only eight college football games at the University of Waterloo in Canada and one preseason game for the Browns in 2010 before he was cut. The upside? He's 6-foot-8 and 317 pounds with a basketball background. Donnell, 6-6 and 269 pounds, has no pro experience but he played at Grambling State from 2007-10. In 26 games there he caught 38 passes for 432 yards and 11 touchdowns.
