David Douglas had a big night, even though the statistics won’t reflect it.

He caught a pass for 36 yards and returned a punt 37 yards, but neither of those plays counted thanks to some holding penalties (Ramses Barden and Will Hill on the punt, Mitch Petrus on the catch). So instead of lighting up the boxscore, Douglas wound up with zero catches, three punt returns for a total of two yards, and a decent 28-yard kickoff return.

Still, the coaches won’t be looking at boxscores when they decide his fate. And that goes for not only Giants coaches but others around the league.

“The play that we got the holding called on, he did a nice job,” Tom Coughlin said of the punt return. “I thought he was going to run out the other end.”
