Day after Eli jabs ESPN's Jets coverage, guess who's coming to dinner?
Eli Manning had some good lines yesterday about having no desire to hold training camp under the bright lights and microscope of the ESPN cameras.
“Whenever you turn on the TV, it’s the Jets, SportsCenter is just camped out at the Jets’ complex,” Manning said in an interview on ESPN NY Radio. “I think they’re moving everything from Bristol to right over at the Jets’ complex there, that’ll be an interesting move.”
“I’m not jealous,” Manning said. “I told David Carr to take his shirt off while we were running sprints after practice to see if we could get the same coverage. No, I’m not jealous. I’m not looking for extra attention. I’m not looking to do more interviews than I have to or to be on TV more than I have to. I kind of like the fact that there are days where I can go and I don’t do one interview.”
Well, guess who’s coming to dinner?
The Bristol Stompers are here in Albany today, in case you haven’t seen them with their live remotes on SportsCenter this morning. While they’re still firmly embedded with the Jets over in Cortland, they’re taking a few minutes each hour, apparently, to catch up with the Super Bowl champs.
“It’s been more relaxed where you come in, you can work, you can go through your day,” Manning said of the relative quiet of Albany compared to Cortland, “and every once in a while you do an interview, but you don’t do it every day.”
My guess is that today is one of those days.
