Yes, it's Wednesday and that means it's the first day of real prep for the Panthers.

And it also means that Duke Calhoun will be getting ready for his first NFL game. You can read about him here. He was overshadowed by Victor Cruz for most of the summer, but my thinking is that he has a much better shot of being the team's fifth receiver/special teamer on Sunday than Cruz does. Of course that's assuming Ramses Barden is healthy enough to be the No. 4. To quote the great philosopher Coughlin: "We'll see."

(Did I mention that the best part about the two undrafted receivers is that they'll never be booed? They can always just say that the crowd is yelling "Cruuuuz!" or "Duuuuke!")

Of course, Calhoun might have made the team just based on being named Duke.

Speaking of we'll sees, we should have a better idea of how the Giants secondary is shaping up. Will Corey Webster practice? Will Aaron Ross practice? Not that it has anything to do with the secondary, but Gerris Wilkinson said he would practice today. Will he? And did Shaun O'Hara come through Monday's workout clean enough to give it another go today and not hurt his chances of playing Sunday?

Plenty to keep an eye out for today.

Also, if you're not doing anything on Friday night, you can take advantage of a free party being thrown by the Giants at New Meadowlands Stadium. Yes, free.

Here's the info straight from the team:

"The New York Giants are inviting all fans to come celebrate the arrival of the inaugural season at their new home with a Kickoff Tailgate Party on Friday, September 10th from 6pm to 8pm at New Meadowlands Stadium. Admission and parking to this pep rally event are free. The West Plaza entrance of the stadium will host appearances by Giants legends, youth football activities for kids, and music. In addition, fans can get their first look at the new team store as well as The Giants Legacy Club presented by New York Presbyterian – the team’s new hall of fame museum – with Giants artifacts that will walk fans through the team’s history. The evening will include special guest appearances from your favorite Giants players."

Favorite Giants players? You mean Duke Calhoun will be there?
