Eli Manning had a tough act to follow when his older brother Peyton Manning won a Super Bowl in 2007. Eli since has won two.
Now the Giants quarterback again faces a daunting task: Following his brother's critically acclaimed performance as a host of "Saturday Night Live" in March 2007. The show revealed during a commercial break in Saturday night's episode that Eli will get his own hosting turn May 5. The scheduled musical guest is Rihanna.
A number of sports figures have hosted "SNL," beginning with a former Giants quarterback, Fran Tarkenton, in 1977.
Manning has been asked in the past about hosting "SNL" and indicated he might be interested but was awaiting an invitation. Apparently it arrived, and he will take the stage in Studio 8H three months after winning Super Bowl XLVI. Eli's personality is far less outgoing than Peyton's, but friends and family insist he has a dry but effective wit. We shall see.
