Eli Manning got to catch up with some of his former teammates through the media on Wednesday.

"It's good to hear from ol' Tiki," Manning said with a straight face.

That was a tongue-in-cheek reference to Tiki Barber's recently voiced opinion that the Giants should part ways with Tom Coughlin at the end of this season.

"That was very nice of him," Manning said. "I didn't read it. I just kind of saw a headline . . . Just kind of figured hey, everybody has their opinions. We've never let it affect the locker room. It's not going to affect the players and it's not going to affect the coaches."

Barber certainly is not alone in his conclusion. Manning was asked if the opinion of a former player like Barber carries more weight with him than opinions from fans or others in the media.

"I think it depends kind of on what your opinion of the player is," said Manning, who has been on the receiving end of some Barber critiques in the past. "I think that can make a big difference in how you react to it."

The Giants' passer at his passive-aggressive best.

Barber wasn't the only former Giant to cross Manning's path during his media availability on Wednesday. The quarterback also was asked about Michael Strahan being named to People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive list.

"I don't know who's voting on that, but congratulations to Michael, I guess," Manning said. "Well-deserved."
