Will Beatty was so concerned about the muscle spasms in his back that he wasn't paying much attention to his vision. But whenever he looked down or at his nose, he said, things got a little fuzzy in his right eye. So with a day off from practice Wednesday, the Giants offensive lineman decided to have it checked out.

Good thing.

Beatty has a detached retina that will require surgery this morning. He won't know how long he'll be sidelined until after the procedure.

Beatty said he doesn't remember getting poked or injuring his eye during the Eagles game on Sunday night. He certainly will be out Monday night against the Saints.

"I'm hoping for the best," Beatty said. "It could be a wide range of being out for a few weeks to being out for the season. I'm going for the lesser. But there's nothing I can really do to rehab or anything so I'm just praying that when he goes [in] it's not that bad."
