Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell is running out of opportunities to become a head coach in the NFL in 2011.
With the Panthers seemingly set to hire Ron Rivera Tuesday and the 49ers already having landed Jim Harbaugh, Fewell's chances have come down to the Broncos and the Browns. He interviewed in Denver on Sunday and is expected to meet with Browns executives Tuesday, according to a source. The Broncos do not appear close to making a decision as their list of candidates continues to grow; they received permission Monday to interview Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.
As for Carolina, Fewell had not been crossed off the list as of last night but was aware that Rivera was close to completing a deal, according to a source. Fewell was asked to "hang on," the source said. If a deal with Rivera falls apart, Fewell could be next in line.
