Fisher riffs on Young, Colts, Britt
Just a few notes from the conference call with Jeff Fisher this morning:
Fisher restated what he told the Tennessee press on Monday, that Vince Young will be the starting quarterback against the Giants. “Nobody likes to go through what he went through last weekend,” Fisher said of Young, who was yanked from the Steelers game in the second half, “but he bounced back. I expect him to have a great week. He;s our quarterback, and he’ll be fine.”
He also said that he’s not paying much attention to the Giants’ game against the Colts, at least not for clues on the Giants’ defense. “When you play the Colts, you play completely differently,” Fisher said. “You have to play out of character and you need to adjust.” He also said: “If I was going to get a real sense of the Giants, I’d look at the Carolina game and not the Colts game.”
As for the problems protecting Eli Manning, Fisher again gave credit to the Colts. “The Colts rushers give everyone trouble, not just the Giants,” he said.
On Rutgers product Kenny Britt, now in his second NFL season, Fisher said this: “Like many players after his first year, they go home after the season is over and disappear, and he disappeared. I was a little disappointed in his participation in the offseason program. He got a lot of things finally put behind him, and has been just fine. He had a good camp, and he made some good plays the other day in the game. I think he’s a very talented player, and he has a great future.”
