Once a Giant, always a Giant. Apparently that’s true for movie stars, too.

Col. Greg Gadson, who has been an inspirational voice in the Giants’ locker room for the last five seasons, received his second Super Bowl ring last night. But Gadson has become something of a free agent. While he’s always been affiliated with the Giants, his connection to the team was through his close friend from West Point, Mike Sullivan. This season, Sullivan will be the offensive coordinator for the Bucs in Tampa Bay.

So where will Gadson’s allegiance fall? With the friend or with the franchise? A little of both, perhaps.

“I’m here with the Giants and Mike’s one of my best friends and I’m certainly going to continue to talk with him,” Gadson said on Tuesday where he was attending a special screening of the movie “Battleship,” in which he plays a role. “Whether I’m giving speeches to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or not, that’s probably not going to happen.”

The screening took place on the Intrepid and was to honor military heroes in New York City. Subway, the sandwich shop, helped sponsor the event and had “famous fan” Justin Tuck there as well.

Tuck said he was impressed by Gadson’s role in the movie.

“I saw his SWAG card,” Tuck said. “The SWAG card. I call it SWAG. I know it’s spelled SAG but I call it SWAG because anybody that has a … yeah, you get it. You’re smart enough to follow that.”

“I’m really cautious about describing the importance of my role because that’s for the viewer to determine,” Gadson said. “But it’s not like a cameo shot. I’m kind of intertwined in the story.”

It was the first time Gadson tried his hand at acting.

“It’s a challenge,” he said. “As someone who’s served a career in the military, we’re often taught to control our emotions and acting is quite the opposite. You’ve got to make yourself vulnerable, you have to show emotions. So I certainly had to figure out how to do that.”
