Giants are a topic of discussion at the Jets
Spent yet another day in Florham Park covering the Jets today, but there were a few times when I felt right at home. And not just because DiTrani was there with me.
No, the subject of the Giants came up a few times. In fact, Glauber wrote a column about it here.
The Giants also came up in Mark Sanchez' press conference. Sanchez was asked about discussions he had with Eli Manning before the draft and before the season and what advice Eli might have given him.
"I haven't gotten a chance to talk to Eli (recently)," Sanchez said. "I talked to him before the season when we were doing the Toyota stuff, but other than that, not really. The preseason game, just briefly."
But Sanchez said he did run into another Giant.
"I did see their center, Shaun O'Hara, and he was just excited," Sanchez said. "'He said, Dude, it's so cool. Keep it going, win it for New York' tye of thing and we're all pulling for you. So that was pretty cool."
At that point I noted to Sanchez that Eli is probably not 100 percent pulling for him in this game. Sanchez seemed stunned by that. "If the roles were reversed, I don't know how I would feel," he said. "I would probably be happy for him if he won, it would be big for New York and the city ..."
Sanchez clearly thought I was implying that Eli was jealous of him playing at this time of the year. I had to stop him and remind him that Eli has a brother who plays for the Colts and that's the reason he's not waving his Jets flag this week.
"Oh, yeah," Sanchez said with a grin. "That too probably."
