As we’ve seen in the past, a good week of practice is not guaranteed to transfer over to the game on Sunday. But today’s practice, many players agreed, had a little more spark and energy and fire than just a regular Wednesday workout. The Giants are 0-2 and going to Carolina for what nearly everyone considers a must-win game. They began their preparations as if their season is on the line.

“We had a good practice today,” Brandon Jacobs said. “It was good to see the defensive line and offensive line mix it up today. There was some difficult reads out there, just like it is in the game. If we get that every day in practice, it should be easy in the game.”

Linebacker Mark Herzlich also noticed the up-tick in intensity.

“I wouldn’t call it different, but there was an energy level that we saw today that I haven’t seen as much of,” he said. “We had that going into a practice here, a practice there throughout the last two weeks. But it hasn’t been Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Having the fire today is good, but we need to have that tomorrow and have it Friday as well.”
