The Giants will wear white pants for the first time this century in 2013.

The team announced Tuesday that it would use an alternate uniform for select games in 2013, but the change will take place below the belt only. For the first time since 1999, the players will wear white pants. They have worn only gray pants for the last 13 seasons.

The white pants will have a thin red stripe bordered by gray and blue stripes. They will only be worn with blue jerseys, so there will never be a white-on-white color combination. That look was last used in 1999 as well, and was also the last year the team had the word "Giants" written on their helmets. In 2000, they went back to the "NY" logo on the helmets.

League rules allow teams to incorporate three pants styles in their uniform wardrobe. Last year the Giants used the same pants -- gray with a blue stripe bordered by gray and red stripes -- for both home and away games. The team has not yet announced which games will feature the white pants in 2013.
