Giants reach deals on contract extensions with starting guard Jon Runyan Jr., backup QB Jameis Winston

The Giants used the typically quiet last Sunday off before the start of the regular season to handle a flurry of business, agreeing to two-year extensions with starting guard Jon Runyan Jr. and backup quarterback Jameis Winston.
Sources confirmed to Newsday that Runyan’s deal is for $22 million, with all but $500,000 guaranteed, and Winston’s is for $13 million. Both were scheduled to become free agents at the conclusion of this season but now are tied to the Giants through the 2028 season.
The moves give the Giants stability at two key positions. Runyan becomes one of four starting offensive linemen signed through 2028 (left tackle Andrew Thomas and rookie Sisi Mauigoa are under contract through 2029 and the Giants have an option on Mauigoa for 2030). Winston has become a valuable asset not only as the backup to Jaxson Dart and a key voice in his development but as a team leader.
