Rookie running back Cam Skattebo didn’t practice Saturday and is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury after leaving practice early on Friday.
“He’s working back from rehabbing something, so he had a little bit of a setback,” coach Brian Daboll said Saturday.
Skattebo was held out of team drills on Tuesday and Thursday. He participated in one series with the second team Friday before leaving for the locker room.
Before that, the fourth-round pick took four first-team reps Monday, the first full day in pads.
He’s impressed with his versatility as a pass-catcher, and Daboll has said he looks forward to seeing his physicality.
That eagerness will have to wait with Skattebo sidelined. Rookie tight end Thomas Fidone II also didn’t practice after heading into the training room Friday with an undisclosed injury.
Robinson highlight
In Saturday’s practice, Wan’Dale Robinson made an extra effort for a sensational catch during the Giants’ team drills.
On his second series with the first team, Russell Wilson threw a deep ball Robinson’s way, but Robinson fell and Dru Phillips tipped the pass in the air.
It fell down to Robinson, who caught the ball while lying flat on the turf. Robinson got up, raced to the end zone and was mobbed by his teammates.
Post-practice games
After practice, Daboll had his quarterbacks line up for a throwing challenge to hit the crossbar on the goalposts from the 15-yard line.
Jameis Winston was successful on his attempt, and it canceled walk-throughs later Saturday. Tommy DeVito’s attempt was short and Russell Wilson and Jaxson Dart also misfired. A hit by either of the three would’ve canceled meetings and led to an early dismissal.
Attendance notes
Wide receiver Darius Slayton was not seen at practice. It’s the first one he has missed in training camp . . . Cornerback Cor’Dale Flott missed his second consecutive practice for undisclosed reasons . . . Flott and Deonte Banks have alternated first-team reps opposite Paulson Adebo, but Banks has taken them exclusively in Flott’s absence . . . Davidson, Jordon Riley and Elijah Chatman.
