The NFL unveiled the Color Rush uniforms for the 2016 season on Tuesday, and while the rest of the league looks like futuristic monochromatic aliensm the Giants somehow managed to go with a classic throwback look.

Their all-white getups with red and blue numbers and trim are decidedly reminiscent of the 1980s teams that won a pair of Super Bowls. They’ll even tweak their helmets for the one game they wear these unis, dropping the NY logo on the side and returning to the spelled-out GIANTS across the head. The Giants will wear the uniforms for their Dec. 22 game against the Eagles in Philadelphia.

“This uniform restored the pride of Giants winning football,” former Giants linebacker and current team broadcaster Carl Banks said in a video on the team’s website. “We gave them the first [Super Bowl] championship in these uniforms.”

“I like to say it’s a modern update of a timeless ’80s era,” said Joe Skiba, the team’s equipment manager.

While the Giants will be in almost all white for the game in December, the Eagles will be in all black with dark green trim. If the game is played in a snowstorm, it may be difficult to see the Giants players on the field. But that’s about the only glitch that can come from the look, which is getting mostly positive reviews online.

“There is something about classics,” Banks said. “Classics never get old. Everything that’s in the DNA of something classic, it may be updated, but there is something special. It’s an emotional connection.”
