Rebounded from missing the first two games of 2009 to make 83 tackles and win the team's Tom Novak Award for "courage and determination despite all odds" . . . Lost his mother in January 2009. "I told her that I was going to do something that would honor the family and stay out of trouble and do the right thing," he said. "All I had to do was work and not complain and not moan, knock the attitude, show great character, be happy, and not be a cancer in the locker room." . . . Played under Nebraska coach Bo Pelini, who was a linebackers coach with the Patriots and Packers. "If he wasn't my coach, I don't think I would be in this position right now." . . . A good hitter who welcomes contact but needs to refine tackling technique . . . Better against the run than in pass coverage and could struggle in space in the NFL . . . Missed 2006 season with torn ACL and the end of 2008 with an ankle injury.

Was ruled academically ineligible in 2008 because he changed majors and was redshirted . . . Was named to the Razorbacks academic honor roll for the 2008-09 school year . . . Tied the NFL combine record with 45 reps on the bench press . . . Pulled a hamstring while running the 40 at the combine . . . Needs work on technique and transferring his weightlifting strength to football strength.

He overcomes athletic shortcomings with effort . . . Needs coaching on pass-rushing techniques . . . Giants project him as an outside linebacker and special teams contributor . . . Two-time All-CAA player . . . Was a walk-on for the William & Mary practice squad in 2005 before becoming a four-year starter.

Has a knack for pinning opponents inside the 20 and also has a very strong leg . . . Had a good Senior Bowl with long, hanging punts . . . "This guy can hit some moon shots," Jerry Reese said . . . Has some sloppy, slow mechanics that need to be refined to prevent blocks . . . Will compete with Jy Bond and could be the opening day punter for the Giants if Jeff Feagles retires as expected . . . Has some experience kicking off.
