Ereck Flowers started the game, but he couldn’t finish. The rookie left tackle exited in the fourth quarter. “I hope it’s nothing more than just the re-aggravation of that injury,” Tom Coughlin said. “You’d love to have that heal and be over with, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.”

Flowers missed one game with the ankle injury. He was carted off the field against the Jets but returned to face the Dolphins — at least most of the way.

Giant steps

Josh Brown followed his team-record streak of 29 straight field goals with a streak of one. After missing in overtime last week, Brown kicked a 35-yarder on Monday night but missed on a 48-yard attempt. “There’s concern, no doubt,” Coughlin said. “We definitely need Josh to get back into the 19-in-a-row kind of thing.” . . . Coughlin praised the play of safety Cooper Taylor, who spelled Landon Collins for much of the second half. “He did a nice job,” Coughlin said. “He came to the line of scrimmage, he defended the run very well. So it is encouraging to continue to play him that way.”
