F When Eli Manning has your longest run of the first half, it's not good. His 14-yarder was the benchmark for the league's worst rushing attack until David Wilson had a couple of decent efforts against a bending Carolina defense all too happy to have the Giants run the ball in the second half. Manning had no time to find open receivers and threw for 119 yards, his fewest since the 2008 regular-season finale, when he played just the first half.

F Hardly a speed bump for a Panthers offense that had three passing touchdowns featuring receivers wide open behind defensive backs and DeAngelo Williams rambling for 120 yards on 23 carries. It got to the point that Carolina was toying with the Giants, running reverses and the Wildcat. Mathias Kiwanuka broke the Giants' sackless streak, but his was the only hit on Cam Newton all day. SPECIAL TEAMSFThe Giants had one chance to score, and Josh Brown missed a field goal from 38 yards after an interception by Aaron Ross. The Giants did manage a turnover on a first-quarter punt attempt when Richie Brockel touched the ball and Larry Donnell pounced on it. But a holding call against Jacquian Williams resulted in a re-kick and a 24-yard swing. In the fourth quarter, Damontre Moore was offside on a punt that gave the Panthers a first down en route to their final touchdown.

F The Giants spent all offseason preparing for the read-option -- and the first time they saw it, Cam Newton ran for 15 yards on a keeper. The Giants looked unprepared for the idea that anyone but Newton might run the ball on fourth-and-inches from the 2-yard line, so Mike Tolbert scooted around the outside for an easy score. Rather than go to a hurry-up offense with short passes -- the way Giants opponents neutralize their pass rush -- the Giants just tried to stack up on protection. It didn't work.
