D D for dimensional, as in the Giants have only one right now. Their running game was nonexistent, showcased by the fact that it took them four plays and the help of a penalty to score on first-and-4 from the Broncos' 4 in the third quarter. They finished with 19 carries for 23 yards and no runs longer than 6. That puts too much pressure on the passing game and causes them to force plays, which leads to a quarterback throwing four interceptions. The Giants need balance in their offense and have to figure out how to run the ball.

C They held the Broncos to "only" 416 yards. Two of Denver's TD drives started with the ball at or inside the Giants' 40 and a third began at the Broncos' 47. The Giants' D forced one turnover but desperately needed the second after they closed within a point and failed to recover Demaryius Thomas' fumble. The Broncos ran for 109 yards, 45 of them coming on two TD runs by Knowshon Moreno on the exact same play.

F Any time the name "Matt Dodge" pops up in recounting the play of the unit, it's an automatic failure. In this case, they were hit for the first punt return for a TD since Dodge's days as the Giants' punter in 2010. Steve Weatherford tempted fate all game with line drives and kicks down the middle of the field to the dangerous Trindon Holliday. Josh Brown made field goals of 36, 24 and 41 yards.

D Tom Coughlin said this past week he wanted to be a "historian" and teach the players about world events. He continued that penchant for the past right after the game, reminding the team that the Giants have been in 0-2 holes before and dug out of it -- even though some of the players were in middle school or high school when that happened in the 2007 Super Bowl season. Perry Fewell certainly had a better game plan than the last time he faced Peyton Manning, but it didn't matter much.
