OFFENSE
B+Who would have thought that in a game against the Eagles, Vic would be a more dynamic playmaker than Vick? Victor Cruz had a breakout game with two TD catches showing good skill and toughness. Eli Manning had his first big game of the season with four TD passes, no interceptions and a 145.7 passer rating. He completed 16 of his 23 passes, seven of those passes to his running backs. "We knew they had a linebacker situation," Ahmad Bradshaw said. Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs combined for 105 rushing yards.
DEFENSE
AThings looked very chaotic in the second quarter, particularly in the backfield, where there were lots of late adjustments. On the Eagles' only touchdown drive, both Antrel Rolle and Kenny Phillips missed tackles for losses and Rolle whiffed on LeSean McCoy's TD run. But the defense settled down and held strong. Aaron Ross had two picks, the defensive line dug in for a turnover on downs, and they came up huge on the goal-line stand late in the third.
SPECIAL TEAMS
AThey didn't allow the Eagles' speedsters to burn them -- DeSean Jackson returned only one punt for 13 yards -- and even used Philly's quickness against them when their double-set on the fourth-quarter field-goal attempt drew them offside. Steve Weatherford, whose hard count drew the Eagles off, put one of his four punts in the end zone and put one out of bounds.
COACHING
AThe Giants' offensive game plan of using their running backs against the Eagles' linebackers worked well, although it was more passing than rushing. Without Mario Manningham, Hakeem Nicks appeared to be the only big-play concern for the Eagles' secondary but Kevin Gilbride went to Victor Cruz with terrific results. And because we rarely get to praise him, good call by special-teams coordinator Tom Quinn on the field-goal ruse.
