NFL players may not be allowed to train at their team complex during the lockout, but many around the league are finding time to get together in unofficial ways and stay sharp in preparation for the upcoming season.

Tuesday, the Giants had an informal workout spearheaded by Eli Manning with a handful of receivers and running backs at Hoboken (N.J.) High School, and Mark Sanchez hosted his Jets teammates at what has become a traditional "Jets West" passing camp in Mission Viejo, Calif.

No coaches are allowed -- a directive from the league during the lockout, not the players -- but the guys got together for some route-running and easy drills. The Jets even took part in some video study led by Sanchez. It's just a way to keep focused on football during a very strange offseason.

Normally at this time of year, the players are taking part in a voluntary offseason workout program designed by their team, getting close to the more structured organized team activities, and inching toward minicamps in June. But with so much uncertainty, this was the first time many of the players had a chance to be on a football field together since the end of last season.

Manning was reportedly joined by Hakeem Nicks, Kevin Boss, Victor Cruz and backup QB Sage Rosenfels, among others. In California, Sanchez was reportedly host to Jets teammates Braylon Edwards, Dustin Keller, LaDainian Tomlinson and Mark Brunell, along with recently drafted rookies Jeremy Kerley and Scotty McKnight. Santonio Holmes might participate later this week.

While the Giants' workouts are pretty loosely organized, the Jets are going all-out. Sanchez is apparently putting his teammates up in beachfront villas and he took them to the Lakers game Monday with future outings planned.
