Giants lose one of their Johnsons
Michael Johnson has been placed on injured reserve with a herniated disc in his back. He played sparingly in the first two games of the season -- he was the safety who was drawn in on a play-action fake that led to a touchdown pass by the Colts two weeks ago -- but sat out the Titans game with the back issue.
He'll be replaced on the roster by practice squad call-up Brian Jackson.
The loss of Michael Johnson leaves the Giants with only two other Johnsons on the 53-man roster: D.J. Johnson and Bruce Johnson.
Johnson, who was a starter in previous years but was pushed aside with the addition of Antrel Rolle and Deon Grant and the return of a healthy Kenny Phillips, might have played his last game for the Giants. He was playing on a one-year contract this season as a restritced free agent.
